Your Second Visit

Report of Findings
Once the cosultation and examinations have been performed, Dr. Homonai will schedule you for your second visit. This second visit is probably the most important visit you will ever have because the doctor will give you a report of his findings to answer the three most popular questions:
- Can you help me?
- What do you recommend that I do to get better?
- How much is it going to cost?
After discussing with you your history and your goals, examining your spine and reviewing any x-rays or tests, Dr. Homonai will discuss his treatment recommendations with you. In most cases, Dr. Homonai will be able to help your condition without any assistance from other medical providers. If you have a condition that requires co-management of care with other providers, the doctor will explain this to you. If Dr. Homonai believes that he can help you, the doctor will discuss with you the recommended treatment plan to help you achieve your goals. The doctor will often explain what care may be necessary to help you achieve short-term goals like reducing pain, medium-range goals like rehabilitative care to correct underlying muscle imbalances and long-term goals like a wellness program to ensure that you stay healthy.

Treatment
Patients will generally receive their first treatment on the second visit to the office. This first treatment usually occurs on the second appointment immediately after the report of findings. The initial treatment is usually performed on the second visit for several reasons - it allows the doctor time to review all of the information from your examination, review any x-rays that may have been taken, request records or imaging studies from other physicians or hospitals you may have visited, and look over your new patient forms in greater detail. The doctors will occasionally provide some type of emergency treatment for symptomatic relief on an initial visit, but this is rare. Evaluation of a chiropractic problem is a complicated process when done properly, which is why Dr. Homonai at Fay West Chiropractic is often able to successfully treat conditions that have not been helped by other providers.
Once the doctor has evaluated your condition and prepared a treatment plan designed to help you achieve your health goals, you will be ready to take your first steps down the path towards better health. Your first treatment will include specific spinal adjustments using an Activator adjusting instrument, and may likely also include physiotherapies, and/or soft tissue therapies. These treatments will be explained in great details so that you understand each individual therapy and how it is designed to help you feel better and improve your condition.

Wellness Program
As part of the chiropractic philosophy of Dr. Homonai, he believes strongly in the treatment of the patient as a whole and not just a focus on one particular injury or symptom. During the first few visits to the office, each patients will be instructed on the benefits of starting a wellness program. Dr. Homonai has found that patients who become actively involved in achieving better health are much more successful. The doctor will instruct you on specific stretches and exercises that may be beneficial, he will determine if you would benefit from any type of nutritional supplementation, and educate you about the benefits of regular chiropractic care, even in the absence of pain or symptoms, as part of a wellness lifestyle to keep you functioning at optimal levels.
